    The SNAG slides are currently being cleaned, scanned, and color-corrected by a local digitization vendor. The first batch of images will be delivered to the Museum by mid-February. The intern will assist the Registrar in reviewing the physical catalog records that accompany the slides, making revisions where needed, and conducting any additional research necessary to populate all fields of the ACC metadata template before uploading each image to the database.

    Education Coordinator, School Programs at The Walters Art Museum
    The Walters Art Museum is seeking a creative and vibrant individual to schedule museum visits to partner outreach schools. Reporting to the Manager of School Programs, the incumbent will have responsibility for:
    Developing and teaching classroom and museum-based lessons for partner outreach schools.
    Leading tours and teaching studio classes.
    Collaborating with teachers to ensure programs and resources are interdisciplinary and curriculum-based.
    Working with docents to ensure positive museum experiences for school audiences through training of appropriate content, educational theory and pedagogy.
    Researching, writing, and reviewing resource materials.
    Leading teacher programs.
    Coordinating the museum’s studio, distance learning, and teen programs.
    Performing other duties as assigned.
    Qualifications:
    B.A. in art history, museum education, fine arts, or art history plus 1 year of related experience. Studio art teaching experience and a background in museum education or classroom teaching preferred.
    Knowledge of developmental stages for K-12 students; of arts integration; local and national art education standards; and application of learning theories to art museum education.
    Excellent interpersonal, customer service, organizational, written and verbal communication skills.
    Proficient with Microsoft Office Word and Excel software at the intermediate level.
    Must provide own transportation, as travel is required

    1. Work with museum staff to expand the existing Native American exhibits with artifacts drawn from the collections of the C.H. Nash Museum. The project will include developing a rack card type “for more information” handout on the prehistory of the area and expanding on existing QR code data. The intern must have transportation to the Morton Museum, have excellent writing skills, and the existing knowledge or the ability to learn basic page layout and digital technology skills. The intern will be jointly supervised by C.H. Nash Museum and Morton Museum personnel.
    2. Curation tasks and Digitizing 1929 – 1931 copies of the Collierville Herald. The project will include general curation tasks with museum collections with a specific emphasis on digitizing newspaper copy.     11/20/14: The Metal Museum seeks an intern to assist with a Visible Storage Project that will relocate several significant permanent collection objects from basement storage to visitor-accessible storage units in our on-site library. The project began in fall of 2014 and requires ongoing intern support. The intern will identify and locate objects to be included in Visible Storage, complete condition reports, and suggest any conservation needs. Other responsibilities include updating and correcting collection records using Past Perfect museum database software, assisting with exhibitions, and other reasonable duties as assigned by the Collections Manager/Registrar.
